Why this journal exists

My body kept count. Then it sent the invoice.

In 2016 I was flying at work — and waking at 3am with panic attacks. Patches of my beard stopped growing. My hearing began to fade, and a ringing started that has never left. The scan for the hearing loss found something nobody was looking for: a brain tumour.

I rebuilt with a system, not a personality transplant — ten minutes in the morning, five at night, one honest review a week. Years later, as a husband to a wife living with epilepsy, a father of two, and a son watching his mum fight cancer, that system still holds. This journal is that system, printed.

Fair questions

Do I need an app?

No. The journal is paper, and the weekly report arrives by email. One photo a week from the camera you already have. If you'd rather keep everything on paper, the journal is complete without scanning.

What gets read when I scan?

Only the weekly review page you choose to send: your scores, your reps, and the short lines you wrote on that page — kept solely so later reports can hand your own words back to you. The deep writing pages are never scanned, by design. Everything is deletable with one email.

What if I miss days?

The journal expects it. Missed days are data, not failure — and there's a page in the book for exactly that moment. It's the page people photograph most.
